Hildur Guðnadóttir

Hildur Ingveldardóttir Guðnadóttir (born 4 September 1982) is a classically trained cellist and composer Icelandic, accompanied in addition to their own projects, many well-known artists with her cello.

Overview

Hildur Guðnadóttir began as a child to play the cello and studied at universities in Reykjavík and at the University of Arts in Berlin later. After her studies, she returned to Iceland, where they are heavily involved in recent art and music scene. So she runs together with his friend Jóhann Jóhannsson the organization Kitchen Motors, a combination of think tank, label and artist collective. She starred in the Icelandic group Múm and Angel ( Ilpo Väisänen and Dirk with Dresselhaus ) and is a member of the inspired Greek and Bulgarian dance ensembles Stórveit Nix Nolte. Even beyond the borders of their country beyond Guðnadóttir has participated in numerous musical projects, such as on recordings of Finnish experimental band Pan Sonic or the German electro - musician Dirk Dresselhaus of Schneider TM is called. She worked with the Swedish sound artist BJNilsen and also the Swedish band The Knife.

Guðnadóttir is also active as a conductor and composer. She composed the soundtrack for the play Sumardagur ( " summer "), which was premiered at the Icelandic National Theater.

In 2007, she brought under the name Lost in Hildurness folkinspiriertes her solo debut Mount A out, which appeared in the Icelandic label 12tónar and was recorded almost single-handedly. The recordings were made partly in New York, partly in an Icelandic wooden house, which is famous for its cello oncoming acoustics. Guðnadóttir performed there along with Cello vibraphone, viola and harp, and added the instruments through subtle vocal work. Followed in 2009, the second solo album Without Sinking, which was released on the British label Touch. Besides Johannsen also Guðnadóttirs father, clarinetist Gudni Franzson acts on the recordings. Guðnadóttir regularly performs live on, there usually accompanied by a trumpeter and a saxophonist. You already toured with Johannsson, with Fever Ray and with the American indie folk band Animal Collective.
