Geography

The municipality is situated on the English Channel coast, in the Bay of Saint -Brieuc, around 80 kilometers north- west of Rennes. Hillion lies with its northern part on a peninsula, surrounded by the Anse d' Yffiniac and to the east of the Anse de Morieux in the West. Beyond the Anse d' Yffiniac are the places Langueux, Saint- Brieuc and Plérin. Immediate neighboring communities in the southern part are:

  • Morieux in the east,
  • Coëtmieux and Pommeret in the southeast,
  • Yffiniac in the south.

On the eastern municipal boundary flows into the river Gouessant in the Anse de Morieux. Next to the southeast extends its tributary Évron. The southwestern area is drained by a small stream called Cré, which opens into the Anse d' Yffiniac.

The whole bay around Hillion, and some riparian zones are as Réserve naturelle de la Baie de Brieuc nature reserve, parts of which are designated as Natura 2000 protected areas under FR5300066 and FR5310050 registered.
