Himni i Flamurit
Himni i Flamurit (Albanian " Hymn to the Flag" ) is the national anthem of Albania since 1912.
Formation
The text is taken from the poem Betimi mi flamur by Aleksander Stavre Drenova ( 1872-1947 ). It was first published on April 21, 1912 in the Albanian-language magazine Liri e Shqipërisë ( "Freedom of Albania" ) in Sofia. It also appeared in his 1912 published book of poetry Ëndrra e LOTE ( "Dreams and Tears "). The theme of the poem is the freedom struggle of the Albanian people.
The music by the Romanian Ciprian Porumbescu (1853-1883), from which also the Romanian national anthem used by 1977-1990 ( Cintecul Tricolorului ) comes. The melody of the Albanian anthem was created in 1880 in Czernowitz, then the capital of the Austrian crownland Bukovina. Originally, it was a setting of a poem in Romanian language Pe - al nostru steag e scris UNIRE ( " On our flag represents unity" ) of the pedagogue and publicist Andrei Barseanu ( 1858-1922 ). The music was chosen in 1912 by the Albanian National Assembly for scoring Drenovas poem and proclaimed the national anthem. In the current constitution of 21 October 1998, the anthem carries the official title Rreth Flamurit të Përbashkuar ( " United under the banner" ).
