Hindustan Ambassador

The Hindustan Ambassador ( " Amby ") of Hindustan Motors is a popular car in India to be built since 1957, after the submission of the Morris Oxford Series III under license.

He is a four-door sedan with high ground clearance and vertical glasses. As motorization are petrol and diesel engines available, partly supplied by Isuzu, the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated diesel engine with 38 hp up to 75 hp petrol engine, also available for use with natural gas or LPG.

Characteristic of the Ambassador are:

  • Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Gearbox, 5 gears

The journalist and writer Alexander von Schoenburg mentions in his book The Art of stylish depleting a used Hindustan Ambassador, had ended up in Bonn, because of its exoticism as a prime example of a trolley for someone " with little money and exquisite car taste."
