Hinulugang Taktak

The Hinulugang - Taktak National Park is located on the island of Luzon, Philippines. It was established in 1980 on an area of 3.34 km ² in the province of Rizal in the municipality of Antipolo City. It was named after the Hinulugang - Taktak - waterfall, which is located in the center of the park. This has a drop height of twelve meters and a width of approximately 15 meters. Since 17 November 2000, the National Park in accordance with the guidelines of the NIPAS Act is reported as Hinulugang Taktak Protected Landscape.

The National Park is located about 24 kilometers east of Manila in the western foothills of the Sierra Madre. The name Hinulugang Taktak means where the bell was dropped, this goes back to a legend from the 17th century, in which the residents of Antipolo from a church bell, which produced hard, unbearably loud noise, were molested. They demanded from the local priest to remove the bell. The priest then removed the bell and threw it into the nearby river.
