Hirayama family

As Hirayama families are referred to in astronomy groups of asteroids that move on similar orbits around the sun.

Subfamilies are understood in astronomy ( in the context of minor planets ) concentrations of asteroids in the main belt, which have similar orbits, spatially close to each other and have emerged from the collapse of larger objects by collisions.

First, the existence of such Asteroid groups in 1918 by the Japanese astronomer Kiyotsugu Hirayama ( 1874-1943 ) was discovered, which are therefore also called Hirayama families.
