Hiroshi Shirai

Hiroshi Shirai (白 井 寛Japanese, Hiroshi Shirai; born July 31, 1937 in Nagasaki, Japan) is one of the most important contemporary persons in the area of ​​Shotokan Karate. As founder of the Istituto Shotokan Italia, a nonprofit corporation under the umbrella of fictions ( Federazione Italiana Karate Vinegar, Italian Association for Traditional Karate ), he is dedicated to the promotion of Shotokan Karate in Europe and the world and lives and teaches today in Milan, Italy. Master Shirai are together with Master Carlo Fugazza seminars and is the responsible auditor of fictions for Dan examinations. In addition, Master Shirai applies as the developer of Goshin -Do, a special exercise program for self-defense.

Biography

Shirai was born on July 31, 1937 in Nagasaki. After finishing school he began in 1955 with a degree in Geography at the University Komazawa in Tōkyō and took the karate training under the guidance of leading minds of the JKA, Kase Taiji, Masatoshi Nakayama and Nishiyama Hidetaka on.

After only two years he received in 1957 the first Dan. In 1959, the graduation for the second Dan and he took first place in the university championships. The following year, 1960, he began the training necessary to obtain the authorization to teach the JKA among his teachers Nakayama, Nishijama, cheese and Sugiura Motokuni, which he received in 1961. In the same year he graduated to 3rd Dan and took second place in the All Japan Karate JKA Championships. This, he won the following year in both disciplines, Kumite and Kata, and was thus ' Grand Champion'. In 1963 he was recognized as a master ( Sensei ) and graduated in 1964 5th Dan.

In 1965 he traveled with several other great masters to demonstrations all over the world (Europe, South Africa and the United States). In Italy, he contributes to the spread of a new enthusiasm for the martial arts in and forms numerous champions who are active in the world today. In November of the same year he settled in Milan, where he lives and teaches today. The following year he founded the A.I.K. ( Associazione Italiana Karate ).

In 1969 he was awarded the 6th Dan and founded a year later, the FE.SIKA ( Federazione Italiana Sportiva Karate ), which celebrated numerous successes in competitions at national, European and world level. In 1974 he graduated to 7th Dan, founded in 1979, ISI ( Istituto Shotokan Italia ) and received the 1986 8th Dan.

The following year he founded together with other masters of the fictions ( Federazione Italiana Karate & Vinegar discipline affini ) whose technical direction he still holds today. In 1999 he was awarded the 9th Dan, December 10, 2011 the 10th Dan and thus became one of the highest graduated and most important living masters in the art of karate.
