Hjalmar Frisk

Hjalmar ( born 4 August 1900 in Gothenburg; † August 1, 1984 ibid ) Frisk was a Swedish linguist, philologist and Indo-Europeanist.

He has emerged internationally in numerous publications. Already in 1927 he translated the historical document " Periplus Maris Erythraei ". The best known is in the German language well be Greek etymological dictionary (3 volumes, 1954-1972 ). From 1951 to 1966 he was rector of the University of Gothenburg.
