The HK 36 Skalica is a Slovak ice hockey club from Skalica, which was founded in 1936 and continuously plays in the Slovak Extraliga since 1997. Play their home games in the club from the MAX aréna that offered 3214 spectators until 2008. In the summer of 2008, the venue was rebuilt and since then has 4095 spectators.

History

In its history, the club was renamed several times, so 1952 by TJ Sokol Tekla Skalica in TJ Tatran Skalica, later in ZVL Skalica and on 1 January 1993 in HK 36 Skalica. From 1974 to 1989, the seniors team of the then ZVL Skalica played within the League 1 Slovakia ( SNHL ) ( second class ), but never came across a fourth square. In 1989 even the descent into the second league, but failed to qualify in 1993 for the promotion to the 1st Slovak league. 1995/96 reached to the relegation round of the Extraliga, but failed significantly as the last of the qualification. The following season, turn the relegation was reached in which the HK 36 Skalica took second place and thus rose to the Extraliga.

During the lockout in the NHL Žigmund Palffy went back for a few games for the HK 36 on the ice, but then changed her HC Slavia Prague. The 2008/09 season was the most successful in the history of the club. The series ended with a 4-2 victory for HC Košice, making HK 36 Skalica finished the final in second place.

The club reached the first round of the 2008/09 season for the first time in the club's 100 points and 200 goals ( 168 goals against ).
