The HK Gomel ( Belarusian ХК Гомель, Russian ХК Гомель / HK Gomel) is a Belarusian ice hockey club from Homel, who plays in the Belarusian Extraliga. Over several years, the team took part in the East European Hockey League. The club was founded in 2000 and plays its home matches at the Ice Palace Gomel, which offers 2,700 spectators.

History

The club was founded on 24 August 2000 by decision of the Regional Administration of Homelskaja Woblasz through the city Homel. As the main sponsor, the oil companies Gomel Transneft was obtained, whose CEO Alexei Kostjuschenko was elected chairman of the association. First coach of the men's team was Yevgeny I. Lebedev. The first official game of the team took place in Ice Palace Gomel on 17 September 2000.

Just three years after founding the men's team of HK Gomel won her first Belarusian title. A year later, the club reached the third place in the championship, he was also in 2003 and 2004 runner-up of the East European Hockey League. Due to the league title in 2003 of HK Gomel at IIHF Continental Cup could participate in 2003/ 04, the final tournament took place in Homel. The HK Gomel took second place at the tournament.
