Hlebine

Hlebine is a village in the Croatian historical region Podravina ( Drau ), 13 km east of Koprivnica with 1,304 inhabitants ( 2011 census ).

Hlebine is as the home of Croatian naive art ( school of naive art Hlebine ) are known which has gained recognition all over the world thanks to numerous exhibitions of their representatives. The beginnings of this direction are due to an experiment of the painter Krsto Hegedušić around 1930. He tried at that time, a group of farmers who had no academic qualifications, closer to the painting; among them recorded soon after Ivan Franjo Mraz Generalić and out. The farmers took his tempera painting technique on glass and so helped the old Barockmalweise of glass painting to life.
