Hlib Lonchyna

Hlib Boris Sviatoslav Lonchyna MSU (Ukrainian: Гліб Лончина, Polish: Hlib Łonczyna; born February 23, 1954 in Steubenville, USA), Bishop of Holy Family of London.

Life

Hlib Lonchyna studied at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome and reached in 1979 with a degree in Biblical theology. Joined in 1975, he was the one in The Saint Theodore the Studite Monastery ( Grottaferrata, Italy) living Studitenorden. On 19 December 1976, he had taken his vows. His ordination was donated to him on 3 July 1977 by the Major Archbishop Jossyf Slipyj. He then worked as a priest in Passaic (USA). In 1994 he was appointed spiritual director of the seminary in Lviv, at the same time he taught at the Ukrainian Catholic University and was a member of the Apostolic Nunciature in Kyiv. He graduated in 2001 as additional training at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in the study of the "Eastern liturgical theology."

Archeparchy Lviv

Simultaneously with the appointment as Titular Bishop of Bareta on 11 January 2002 he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv. Cardinal Husar Ljubomyr and the co-consecrators Archbishop Stephen Soroka and Bishop Julian Voronovsky MSU initiated him on 27 February 2002 to the bishop. As an auxiliary bishop, he took over on 14 January 2003, the mission of the Apostolic visitator for Ukrainian Greek Catholics in Italy, at the same time he was responsible for Großerzbistum Kiev - Halych procurator in Rome. On 6 December 2004, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Kiev - Halych Großerzbistum. Since 25 March 2006 he was a full-time responsible for the supervision of all religious communities in Ukraine. In addition to office he continued Apostolic Visitor in Italy, Spain and Ireland. Of the tasks in Italy and Spain, he was released on January 7, 2009.

Apostolic Exarchate of United Kingdom / eparchy Holy Family of London

On 2 June 2009, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator in charge of the Exarchate UK. Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 14 June 2011 as the Apostolic Exarch of Great Britain, the inauguration was celebrated on August 2, 2011. He was previously at Mitkonsekrator Wassyl Semenjuk Titular Bishop of Castra Severiana ( Auxiliary Bishop of Ternopil - Sboriw ) and Dimitrios Salachas titular bishop of Carcabia ( Apostolic Exarch of Greece). With the elevation to the eparchy on January 18, 2013, he was appointed Bishop of Holy Family of London.
