Hockey World Cup

Hockey World Championships are the world championships, which will be held in the field and in the hall. World championships in field hockey has been around since 1971.

In the women both IFWHA (International Federation of Women 's Hockey Associations) and the FIH ( Federation Internationale de Hockey) oriented world championships until the two organizations in 1982 to today's FIH united. Although several nations - including Germany - participated in the World Cup tournaments of both associations, the three IFWHA tournaments were not included in the official count of the FIH.

The men's World Cup tournaments were held every two years initially, since 1978 they 'll every four years - in each case between the Olympic Games - is discharged. Since 1986, the ladies also play in this rhythm.

Indoor Hockey World Championships will be held for men and women since 2003.

The last field hockey Men's World Championship took place in 2010 in New Delhi in India instead. The last Hockey Women's World Cup was held in 2010 in Rosario, Argentina. The last indoor hockey World Championship ( men and women) was held in Poznan in 2011.

After the Cup 2006 in Madrid, which was won by the Dutch women, the ladies play in 2010 in Rosario, Argentina to the World Cup. The German crew moved to a 1-0 victory over Australia in the final round and finished fourth.
