Hohenbocka

Hohenbocka (Sorbian Bukow ) is a municipality in the district of Upper Spreewald -Lausitz in the south of Brandenburg and is part of the Office Ruhland.

Geography

The community is located about 10 kilometers south of Senftenberg. It is located in Upper Lusatia. Hohenbocka is the geographically largest municipality in the Ruhland.

Hohenbocka lies in the so-called Buck 's Switzerland.

History

In 1451 Hohenbocka was mentioned as Bugkow propr Ruhland by the monks of the monastery Dobrilugk first documented.

Structures

The village church Hohenbocka was built in the 14th century and has late medieval frescoes.

The large and the small lock Hohenbocka ( large park) were built in 1897 until 1909. The large castle has a floor space of 1200 square meters, the small of almost 500 square meters. There is also a nursery building and two outbuildings. The building served until 1993 to accommodate severely disabled children. With the aim to use the castle as a children's home or for accommodation of drug-addicted teenager, is from 1993 to 1995 a complete renovation, especially the roof, the windows and the facade has been made. Despite intensive efforts of the community, which was the owner of the castle up for sale, it is not then succeeded as planned to use the object.

In 2008 the castle was sold to the group of FGD Drochow. The new concept is to use to develop Hohenbocka castle into a tourist attraction in the region. Various integrative alternative medicine applications in the field of health tourism are planned. Similarly, the rent of the premises for conferences and celebrations of any kind in the first stage is to include 48 beds the facility. The many international contacts FGD Drochow Taking advantage is intended to bring to all guests from abroad to Hohenbocka.

The quartz sand factory Hohenbocka was destroyed in a fire in December 2006; now it is rebuilt and produces silica sand.

In Hohenbocka the Protestant theologian August adze lived. His son Theobald adze was born on March 9, 1855 in Hohenbocka and was also a Protestant theologian.
