Holding Out for a Hero is a song by Bonnie Tyler from 1984, written by Jim Steinman and Dean Pitchford. The song is part of the soundtrack of the movie Footloose.

History

Holding Out for a Hero was released on 13 April 1984 as a single; the original length is 4:22 minutes. The instrumental version of the song is 5:15 minutes long; also published some remix versions of the song. 1986 Tyler released the song on their album Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire.

The line " Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods? / Where's the street-wise Hercules to fight the rising odds? " comes from the Ubi sunt, also some parts of Jim Steinman's Stark Raving Love were sampled in the plot of the song implores the protagonist a hero cause who saves her. The piece is in the television series Superman - also used The Adventures of Lois & Clark and Drawn Together as the soundtrack of the films bandits, Shrek 2 and Harry Crumb Who is? .

Video

In the video, the singer Bonnie Tyler runs out of a burning house. In the refrain " I need a Hero" it is in a white dress on the Grand Canyon. In the end, the hero comes on a white horse ridden.
