Holger Ernst

Holger Ernst (born 1972 ) is a German film director and screenwriter. He currently lives in Berlin and Los Angeles.

Biography

Holger Ernst completed his studies at the School of Art Kassel off with a specialization in screenwriting and directing. Since 1992 he has lived in Germany and the USA. He directed a number of short films and advertising, which won awards among other things, the film festivals of Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Paris, Tokyo.

The critically acclaimed film Rain is Falling was shown at the Berlinale and in Venice and won awards including the BAFTA / LA Award for Excellence and the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival Saarbrücken and was nominated for the European Film Awards. Ernst has received numerous national and international awards and nominations for his screenplays Life goes on, family - Disassembly of a soul and we are the greatest.

The House is Burning (produced by Reverse Angle International: Wim Wenders, Peter Schwartzkopff ), co-produced by Academy Award winner Alex Gibney is his debut as a feature film director and celebrated at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 its world premiere in the official program. Theatrical release in Germany was on November 16, 2006.
