Holiday on Ice

Holiday on Ice is one of the most famous ice revues in the world. It was founded in 1943 first performed in Ohio by Morris Chalfen and on 25 December 1943 as Hotel show in Toledo ( Ohio) during the holidays. They toured every year with up to six shows around the globe and is the most successful ice show of all time.

General

Every year or almost every year there are one or two new shows with a different theme. The basic principle is that emotions, feelings and touches are expressed by means of figure skating. This is usually shown in pairs figure skating or synchronized skating, but also in the individual race. Exciting and stunning elements, such as lifting figures and jumps are the main components of the show.

The Cast of Holiday on Ice spread over the whole earth. Therefore, up to ten languages ​​are spoken in the team. Around 220 performers ( skaters ) and 80 crew members involved in the ensemble in all shows.

The music matches the theme of the show. The skating is adjusted in expression and speed of the music. Well-known stars of the show were, inter alia, Ondrej Nepela, Norbert Schramm, Claudia Leistner, Katarina Witt, Tanja Szewczenko and Denise Biellmann.

In Germany Holiday on Ice touring mostly with two shows by selected cities, with almost every year changes the subject. Organizer is Stage Entertainment.

More than 320 million people have seen the shows since 1943. For this reason, Holiday on Ice has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
