Holsthum

Holsthum ( Holzem dialect ) is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Irrel. Holsthum is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography

Holsthum lies at the mouth of the river Enz in the Prüm in the South Eifel nature. The municipality also includes the living space Holsthumer mountain.

History

Holsthum is first mentioned in the sources 869, the wood home. The Franke Leofrid gave to the Abbey of Echternach the herrenmansus Bedense in villa nucupante wooden home (estate home in wood ). Around 1100 the settlement wooden home appeared in Echternach procession directory as Holzem.
