Holy day of obligation
HDO are the Sundays and feasts in the liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church, to which the faithful are obliged to attend a Holy Mass.
" On Sundays and other holy days, the faithful are obliged to participate in the celebration of Mass; they have to abstain beyond those works and activities that hinder the worship, sunday own pleasure or the mind and body due rest. "

The following holidays are not offered in all the dioceses in Germany Holidays:
- Epiphany ( January 6)
- Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), ( Thursday of the second week after Pentecost)
- Assumption of Mary into Heaven (August 15 )
- All Saints' Day (November 1 )
In the dioceses of the Austrian Bishops' Conference following holidays are offered:
- Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ (25 December)
- Solemnity of the Holy Mother of God (January 1 )

- Ascension of Christ
- Corpus Christi
- Assumption of Mary into Heaven (August 15 )
- All Saints' Day (November 1 )
