The Holzberg is a smaller area, to 444.5 m above sea level. NN high mountain range in the southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geography

The forested ridge Holzberg is located in the district of Minden wood at the interface of Leinebergland the east and Weser Uplands in the west. It is located northeast of the Solling between city Oldendorf and Homburg forest in the north, the Elfas in the Northeast, the Office mountains in the east, from which it is separated only by the small valley of the pond brook, and warble in the southeast.

In the ridge Holzberg, whose eastern part is called Denkiehäuser forest, spring from several streams that will sooner or later to inflows of lead and Weser. Its northern reaches are dewatered by the hiesig springing and flowing northwest Lenne ( an eastern tributary of the Weser), the east of the pond creek ( northern tributary of the Spüligbachs ), the southern from running to the east the upper reaches of Spüligbachs ( north- western tributary of Ilme ) and the west from Eberbach ( southwestern source stream of the forest of Bach ).

Conservation

The Holzberg has been partially reported as Habitat Reserve to protect the -find here biotopes as rough pasture, fen or beech forest on limestone are habitat for endangered animal and plant species such as the narrow-mouthed whorl snail Schuppenfrüchtige Yellow Sedge or Broad-leaved cotton grass.

The north western suburbs of wood mountain habitat for legitimate bird species such as Grey-headed Woodpecker, Red Kite or Eagle Owl. It is the EU Birds Directive.

Attractions

Among the attractions of the ridge mountain wood next to the forest landscape include ( interesting flora on limestone soil) the " cliffs ", which are located east of Braak (part of Deensen ) and steep drop to this location.
