Home on the Range is an American animated film by directors Will Finn and John Sanford from the year 2004. It is the 45th full-length animated Disney feature film. In his time it was planned that it should be the last hand-drawn film of the Walt Disney Studios. In early 2007 it was decided to again return to traditional 2D animation. Princess and the Frog is the return of hand-drawn films of Walt Disney Studios.

Action

Maggie, an award -winning show cow, loses her farm. It is to the farm of an old lady, Pearl, placed where it is to live from now on. On the farm, Patch of Heaven, there is peace and harmony. There Maggie meets Mrs. Caloway, over a correct and decent cow, and Grace, who like on their farm welcomes guests with its lively style Maggie. Pearl, the friendly, old owner of the farm, keeping their animals with love, kindness and respect. She is a few months behind with the mortgage pay off and in danger of losing their farm at a foreclosure sale. The Sheriff Sam puts Pearl near one of their cows to sell in order to keep the farm, but it does not want Pearl even begin to hear something. Maggie comes up with its own plan to save the farm can. The debt of the farm amounted to $ 750. This happens to be exactly the sum of the bounty for the ruthless cattle rustler Alameda Slim, who is responsible for what happened to Maggie's old farm. Maggie is working out a plan on how Slim prisoner, driven the money and so the farm can be saved. Of course, this is easier said than done. On the one hand they have with Rico, the best bounty hunters in the area, compete and beyond, if they manage to bring the dangerous route faster than Rico behind them, they still have to make the crooks hand arrest. So Maggie, Grace and the capricious Mrs. Caloway make their way to catch the far and wide iconic villain Alameda Slim and so to save their good old farm.

Background information

Even before the release of the film the Disney Company declared this film to her last classically animated cartoon. In old Disney movies have always been some small computer animations were used, but Disney announced itself ( are such as the successor of the cows going, Chicken Little ) from now to focus solely on completely computer animated films to close and most Animation Studios. After the acquisition of Pixar Animation Studios in early 2006, however, John Lasseter and Ed Catmull decided to revive the traditional animation again and a new movie of this kind, Princess and the Frog to announce.

The pre-production of the film began after Pocahontas in 1995 in the cinemas started. In August 2000, initially under the title "Sweating Bullets" from the film ( to German " Sweating Bullets " ) reported that the release was scheduled for autumn 2003. By the summer of 2001, still no pictures had appeared on the film, but then a logo appeared (still with the old title ) and a screenshot. Within the next few months, more pictures were released. In April of 2002 it was decided to film in "Home on the Range " ( in German " home on the grazing grounds " or " home in the vast land") rename based on the eponymous song, a classic of Western Music. The film got its new logo in the fall of 2002.

  • In the first draft of the script Alameda Slim was planned as a spirit.
  • In the trailer for the Range Maggie Cow is still spoken by Regina Lemnitz, the German dubbing voice of Roseanne Barr. In the movie Hella takes over this role from the senses.
  • Home on the Range is the last Disney movie that appeared on VHS tape.
