Hong Sung-won

Hong Sung -won ( born December 26, 1937 in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, † 1 May 2008 the Gimpo, Gyeonggi -do) was a South Korean writer.

Life

Hong Sung -won was born in 1937 in the district as Hapcheon Oldest of eight children. In 1940 he moved with his family to North Korea, where she lived from the Japanese colonial rule until the liberation. Subsequently, the family settled in Seoul. 1956 Hong began a study of English Studies at Korea University, but this had to stop again due to financial reasons.

Shortly after the military coup by Park Chung -hee in 1961 he had to play three years of military service. The three years in Gangwon -do Military Base had a great influence on his work. 1964 Hong became known as a writer by winning in a row at three different writing competitions. His experiences as a teenager in the Korean War and later as a soldier, were the focus of his early works. Later he dealt among other things with the difficulties of city life and grappled with in recent history.

On May 1, 2008, he died at 71 years in Gimpo in Gyeonggi Province as a result of chronic disease.
