Hopfensee

Marsh Harriers Creek (North) Rear Hopfensee - Oh (Northwest) Cold Brook (West)

The Hopfensee is a maximum of 2.1 km long lake with a circumference of 6.8 kilometers north of Fussen in the Ostallgäu, Bavarian Swabia, Bavaria. He belongs with its entire area of 1.94 square kilometers, the urban area of Füssen, but borders on its western shore to the community Hopferau. The maximum of ten meters of water relatively shallow lake was formed during the Ice Age, through the Lechtalgletscher. It drains to the south over the Hopfensee - Oh, which opens into the Forggensee after a bend to the east.

Developed for tourism is mainly the northeastern shore of the spa town of hops on the lake. On the east bank is a campsite, the southern shore is verschilft. In addition to bathing, which is possible because of the good warming as early as the end of May, even driving with rowing and pedal boats on the lake is possible, as sailing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
