Horace Fairhurst

Horace Fairhurst (* 1895 in Bolton, † January 7, 1921 ) was an English footballer, who was known by his injury-related early death.

Life

Horace Fairhurst was born in Bolton and began his career at FC Darwen. The most active on the left side defender moved in 1919 Zweitdivisionär Blackpool FC, where he played 47 league games in the following years.

On December 27, 1920 Fairhurst suffered in an away game at Blackpool FC Barnsley a head injury, from which he died eleven days later. Fairhurst was one of the first professional football players who suffered a fatal injury during a game.
