The community Hörsel is a rural municipality in the district of Gotha in Thuringia. The administrative center is Hörselgau.

Geography
Geographical location
The rural community Hörsel lies in the west of the district of Gotha, about ten kilometers west of Gotha and about 15 kilometers east of Eisenach. Through the south of the township the eponymous Hörsel flows.

Districts of the country are community Hörsel Unteraspach, Ebenheim, Fröttstädt, Hörselgau, Lauchagrund, Mechterstädt, Metebach ( with Neufrankenroda ) Teutleben, Trügleben and wine garden.

Neighboring municipalities in the district of Gotha Haina, Friedrichswerth, Sonneborn and Goldbach in the north, the town of Gotha in the east, in the southeast Leinatal and Walter Hausen in the south. In Wartburg district is the western neighbor municipality Hörselberg -Hainich.
History
The rural community Hörsel was founded on December 1, 2011 from the voluntary association of municipalities Unteraspach, Ebenheim, Fröttstädt, Hörselgau, Lauchagrund, Mechterstädt, Metebach, Teutleben, Trügleben and wine garden.
The ten municipalities were merged into the administrative community Hörsel since March 1994. After the administrative community had fallen below the required minimum number of 5000 inhabitants in 2009, the municipal councils decided in the spring of 2010, the conversion into a rural community. From 1 August to 9 September 2011, the bill for the church merger in the communities was made .
On 16 November 2011, the Thuringian Parliament had the Thuringian law for voluntary reorganization circle, national communities in 2011 agreed to a majority. To manage Community Hörsel was dissolved on December 1, 2011 and the rural community Hörsel be formed.

On 6 May 2012, the former chairman of the joint management Hörsel Werner Oppermann was elected as a full-time mayor.
Economy and infrastructure
The community Hörsel is agricultural. Most residents work in the neighboring towns of Eisenach, Gotha and Walter Hausen.
Traffic
Rail transport
Through the village runs from west to east, the railway Halle- Bebra. At the station Fröttstädt and at the breakpoint Mechterstädt hourly regional trains hold the line Eisenach - Erfurt - Halle. In Fröttstädt branches off to the south, the railway line to Friedrichroda from. With the breakpoint Hörselgau it opens up another part of the community. The old station Mechterstädt - Sättelstädt only serves as an operating station.
Transportation
The bus operates the Regional Transport Community Gotha. With its lines 820, 830 and 842, it opens up all the districts of the municipality and binds it to at Gotha.
Through the village runs from west to east, the Federal Highway 4 Eisenach - Dresden. In Lauchagrund is the junction Walter Hausen, in Hörselgau the roadhouse Hörselgau Nord ( for the direction west). North of the highway crossing - also in West-East direction - the Federal Highway 7, the districts Mechterstädt, Teutleben, Unteraspach and Trügleben.
