Geography

Geographical location

The rural community Hörsel lies in the west of the district of Gotha, about ten kilometers west of Gotha and about 15 kilometers east of Eisenach. Through the south of the township the eponymous Hörsel flows.

History

The rural community Hörsel was founded on December 1, 2011 from the voluntary association of municipalities Unteraspach, Ebenheim, Fröttstädt, Hörselgau, Lauchagrund, Mechterstädt, Metebach, Teutleben, Trügleben and wine garden.

The ten municipalities were merged into the administrative community Hörsel since March 1994. After the administrative community had fallen below the required minimum number of 5000 inhabitants in 2009, the municipal councils decided in the spring of 2010, the conversion into a rural community. From 1 August to 9 September 2011, the bill for the church merger in the communities was made ​​.

On 16 November 2011, the Thuringian Parliament had the Thuringian law for voluntary reorganization circle, national communities in 2011 agreed to a majority. To manage Community Hörsel was dissolved on December 1, 2011 and the rural community Hörsel be formed.
