Horská Kvilda

Horská Kvilda ( German Innergefild ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 17 km west of Vimperk and belongs to Okres Klatovy.

Geography

The scattered settlement Horská Kvilda is located in the Bohemian Forest in the valley of the Hamerský creek and is surrounded by large marshes. South-west rises the Sokol ( Antigelberg, 1253 m), south of the Březova hora ( 1193 m).

Neighboring towns are Zhůří in the north, and Churáňov Zadov in the northeast, Vydří must and Nové Hutě in the east, Kvilda in the south, Horni Antýgl, Korýtko and Filipova Huť the southwest, Rokyta in the west and Horni rock group Hrádky in the northwest.

History

The large forest area at an altitude of about 1070 m asl of Haidl ( Zhůří ) and Goldbrunn ( Zlata studna ) over the Hanifberg ( Tetřev ), Thief stone ( Lapka ) and Antigelberg ( Sokol ) extended to the Black Mountain in the south, was formerly known as the Gefielde. The Gefielde was originally part of the Bohemian frontier forest. 1318 was given to the southern part of the St. John Monastery in Strakonice. John of Luxembourg gave the northern part in 1345 of the free mountain town rich stone. Since this division was distinguished Gefielde between the outer ( Kvilda ) and the inner ( Innergefild ).

The first indications of a settlement of the interior Arabah date from the time of the establishment of trade routes from the Schüttenhofen about rich stone to Passau in the 14th century. At this time Hammerbach were soaped for gold in the. The first official message about the location on the Gold Trail Innergefild settlement dates back to 1577.

The inhabitants of the mountain settlement lived primarily of glass-making, and Woodcutting. So lay in the municipality Antiglhütte and in the wider environment, the glassworks Vogelsang / Podlesí, Philipp cottage / Filipova Huť Haidl / Zhůří and Tiefthal / Hluboká. They all had great demand for firewood and wood for the production of potash.

The Czech prefix Horská (mountain) does not refer to the altitude in the Bohemian Forest, which is given in Kvilda as well, but to the historical affiliation of the inner Arabah to the mountain town Kašperské Hory.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Horská Kvilda Horská Kvilda ( Innergefild ) and Korýtko (width huts ) and the settlement Horni Antýgl (Upper Antigel ). To Horská Kvilda the corridors of the abandoned places Ranklov include ( Ranklau ) Výhledy ( Schrollenhaid ) and Zlata studna ( Goldbrunn ).

Sons and daughters of the town

  • Joseph Klostermann, called RANKL Sepp (1819-1888), who lives on the Ranklhof in Ranklau at Innergefild RANKL Sepp, was known for his gigantic shape and its extraordinary powers. The, also known as the last Bohemian Forest Giant Klostermann was distantly related to the writer Karel Klostermann, who described him in the novel V ráji šumavském. The RANKL Sepp died in Jáchymov, his grave is preserved in the cemetery in Stachy.
