Horst Arndt

Horst Arndt ( born September 19, 1934) is a retired German rower who won an Olympic silver medal in pairs with coxswain 1956.

Arndt rowed at the oar society Wiesbaden- Biebrich 1888. 1955 won Horst Arndt and Karl- Heinrich von GRODDECK together with coxswain Achim Wernet the German championship in two. 1956 could Arndt and GRODDECK defend the title with the helmsman Rainer Borkowsky. Also at the European Championships 1956 in Bled won the three Wiesbaden before the boats from Switzerland and Austria. At the Olympic Games in 1956 occupied the three second place behind the Americans Arthur Ayrault and Conn Findlay with coxswain Armin Seiffert. 1957 defended GRODDECK, Arndt and Borkowsky their league titles won also at the European Championships in Duisburg. Also in 1957 came the three rowers with a Wiesbaden eighth at the German Championship and finished third.

After GRODDECK was changed to Ratzeburg, Arndt and Borkowsky changed in larger boats. With the Wiesbaden four with coxswain she took third place in the German rowing championship in 1958. Even with the Wiesbaden rollercoaster again they finished in third place. 1959 Arndt finished with a rowing community from Ulm, Wiesbaden and Neuss again third in the German Championship in the eighth.
