Horst (geology)
A tectonic Horst is a flounder (hence Horst plaice), which was lifted between approximately parallel faults relative to the adjacent blocks.
Word origin
Horst is observed in the early Bergmann language for distortions in a seam. All is well in meaning close to " nest" as Moore Hill.
Formation
The up - or deportations, which limit the Horst lengthwise, fall away from it. Nests always occur together with trenches. These structures are one of several typical phenomena that are caused by extensional. Examples of Horst -Graben structures are found in the mountains, where fracture -like deformation dominates, as in Resin, Black Forest and the Vosges. An example of regional extent is the Basin and Range Province in western North America.
