Horst-Ulrich Hänel

Ulrich Hanel ( born March 6, 1957 in Plau am See ) is a former German hockey player. He won two Olympic silver medals.

Hanel started in Marl, Westphalia, with the sport of hockey. In 1969, he moved to Cologne, where he Rot-Weiss Köln joined. After Hanel became 1978 German indoor champion, the Alroundspieler had to wait eight years before he again in 1986 in Hall won his second title.

On his first appointment to the German national Hanel did not have to wait so long for his first championship title. In 1978 he won the German team to the European title in 1980 was followed by the European Indoor Championship title. At the World Cup 1981/1982 he failed with the German team to Pakistan. After bronze at the European Championships 1983 Hanel was with the German team in the final of the 1984 Olympic Games again the team against Pakistan and won as at the World Cup two and a half years before the silver medal. At the World Cup in 1986 and at the Field Hockey Championship 1987 Ulrich Hanel was respectively involved in winning the bronze medal. At the 1988 Olympic Games Hanel belonged to the tribe and won again, this time to a final defeat by the British team, another silver medal. Overall, Ulrich Hanel worked from 1978 to 1989 in 148 international matches with which 6 are in the hall.
