Hôtel de Sens

The Hôtel de Sens is located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, in the Rue du Figuier near the banks of the Seine.

The Archbishop of Sens were under in the Middle Ages more dioceses, including the Diocese of Paris. The Archbishop of Sens has had since 1292 a palace in Paris and as Tristan de Salazar in 1475 Archbishop was, he left the palace in flamboyant as one of the most beautiful houses in the town new build.

When Paris in 1622 even Archbishopric was, the archbishops of Sens gave up the house and rented it out. From 1689 to 1734 it was the seat of the "Message Ries, et Carrosses coches de Lyon, Bourgogne et Franche -Comté ", a transportation company. This was followed in the building of a canning factory, a jam factory, a glazier, etc.

In 1911 the city acquired the Hôtel de Sens and had it restored. Today it houses the art (painting, architecture, sculpture, design, etc. ) dedicated Bibliothèque Forney.
