Hotel Kämp

The hotel combatants is a historic 5 - star Grand Hotel in the center of Helsinki. It is located near the Market Square, the Havis Amanda sculpture, the Cathedral and other sights. In the same building the upscale Galleria shopping center Kämp is housed.

This luxury hotel has 179 rooms and suites, several restaurants and other facilities. The trade magazine Travel & Leisure named it in 2006 as one of the " 100 best hotels in the world ". Since its opening, it is home to many international personalities. For example, housed the artist Madonna during her appearance in August 2009 at the Hotel combatants.

History

Under the building owner and restaurateur Carl combatants and according to the plans of architect Carl Theodor Hoijer the hotel opened in November 1887. It quickly became an important meeting place of important contemporaries from politics, business and the arts. Thus, included among others the painter Akseli Gallen - Kallela, the composer Jean Sibelius and Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim General to the loyal guests.

In the fall of 1965, the hotel was rebuilt and then served the Kansallis - Osake - Pankki (now Nordea Bank) as an office building. The facade and large parts of the inner life have been completely renovated.

In the fall of 1996, the Merita Group, decided to renovate the building comprehensive and henceforth to lead again as a hotel operating as a former owner. The house should get back its original shine. So the legendary Hall of Mirrors was again rebuilt in its original style. In 1999 the house was, as a member of Starwood Hotels ' Luxury Collection ', reopened.
