Howard Air Force Base

The Howard Air Force Base is a former base of the United States Air Force in Panama. It was closed on 1 November 1999 as one of the results of the Torrijos -Carter Treaties. This states that the U.S. gives up all military facilities in the vicinity of the Panama Canal and the Panamanian government transfers.

Howard was long considered the bastion of U.S. air forces in Central and South America and was opened in 1942. In their weddings Howard was the basis for anti-drug operations, military and civilian air transport and large maneuvers and SAR operations. The base is located just 500 meters from the Pacific Ocean.

On the base were parts of the movie James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace rotated.
