Howto

A howto, English analogously: "How do I ... " or " How To " is a sometimes brief guide, which is limited to solving a narrowly defined problem. Usually a howto is addressed to the layman, accordingly, omitted details that are of interest only to experts. The usually single, short posts are less in scope than an operator or user manual or a user manual. In many cases, however, the howto is also the only source of information. In the Internet there are now several websites that deal exclusively with how-tos.

Howtos are used extensively in the technical documentation of GNU / Linux systems.
