Hoyo de Manzanares

Hoyo de Manzanares is a municipality of the comarca of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares in the Autonomous Community of Madrid in Spain. The municipality is bordered to the south by the city of Madrid. In the north- east of the village lies the Sierra del Hoyo, a mountain range which belongs geologically to the Sierra de Guadarrama.

Geographical location

Hoyo lies entirely in the Biosphere Reserve of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares. In the south of Arroyo de Trofa flows. In the north the parish is bounded by the Sierra del Hoyo. The highest elevation is 1403 m with the Estepar.

Population

2006 84.61 % of the population had the Spanish nationality. 6.83% were from South and Central America, 4.37% from Europe ( 2.68% EU, 1.69% Non-EU) and 3.76 % from Africa. The rest are spread over the rest of the world.

About 5 km south-west lies the A6 motorway (Madrid - Corunna), from where it is 30 km to Madrid. With bus routes 611 and 611A can be reached Madrid Moncloa.
