Hua Lamphong Station ( Thai: สถานี รถไฟ หัวลำโพง, pronunciation: [ ni ː ː ǎ satellite ʰ ʰ o ː ŋ rót.fai hǔa.lamp ] ) is the main station of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. It is located in the city center in the district of Pathum Wan. Hua Lamphong is the central hub in the transportation network of the Thai State Railway.

History

The Hua Lamphong Railway Station is the second main train station of Bangkok. At the place where the former station was smaller, now a memorial pillar to the introduction of rail transport in Thailand 1897. The new central station was built on the site of the central repair shop the Thai state railway, which moved in 1910 to Makkasan. Was then commenced with the construction of the new central train station, which was opened after six years of construction on August 16, 1916.

Reception building

Since 2004 the station is connected to the network of underground of Bangkok.
