Huaral

Huaral is the capital of the province of Huaral of the South American Andes - Peru State.

The town is located about 60 km north of Lima on the road PE1NB and 15 km south-east from the 5070 -hectare national park Reserva Nacional de Lachay. In the place 79 001 inhabitants ( census 2007). Jaime Cirilo Uribe Ochoa is the current mayor of the city. The city's football club Unión Huaral playing in the third highest Peruvian league.

History

In May 2010, the Peruvian Ministry of Justice has announced that the first private Peruvian prison is built with 1,500 prisoners in Huaral. The Huaral province was shaken on August 4, 2010 by an earthquake. The quake had a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale.
