Hubert Sielecki

Hubert Sielecki ( born November 6, 1946 in Rosenbach, Carinthia ) is an Austrian artist who is best known for his animated films.

Life

Hubert Sielecki studied from 1968 to 1973 at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Subsequently, he received a scholarship for Animation and painting at the State University of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź. Since 1982 he teaches experimental animation film in the master class Maria Lassnig (since 1991 Master Class Christian Ludwig Attersee ), ( Judith Eisler department since 2009 ) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he established a studio for experimental animation film. Since March 1, 2012 Hubert Sielecki is retired. The studio has since been continued by Niki Jantsch and Praved Krishnapilla. In 1985, Sielecki the Austrian section of the ASIFA International Association du film d'animation. 1990/91 he was appointed lecturer in film at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig. He was from 1986 to 1991 a member of the boards of film funding in Austria. Hubert Sielecki is also a board member of the Künstlerhaus Vienna.

Work

From 1968 undertook Hubert Sielecki first artistic experiments with film. It also animated films, some of which he realized together with Zbigniew Rybczyński emerged. Sieleckis films are art films, in which he draws mostly responsible for all areas of production from script to film music. In some films he worked with writers such as Gerhard Ruhm, Antonio Fian, Gernot Wolf Gruber, painters such as Maria Lassnig, Tone Fink or musicians such as Wolfgang Mitterer. Due to its specialization in Animation Film Sielecki takes within the Austrian avant-garde film a special position. Hubert Sielecki also produced cinema advertising, including 1987, 1988 and 1989, the festival trailer for the Austrian film days and 1990-1998 eleven commercials for the magazine Falter.

Several films by Hubert Sielecki were shown at film festivals in Germany, including at the Berlin Film Festival, the Hamburg Short Film Festival, the Video Festival of Bochum, the Bamberg Short Film Festival and the Regensburg Short Film Week. Even outside the German speaking Sielecki was present at major festivals such as the Hiroshima Kokusai Animation Festival and the Krakowski Festiwal Filmowy. In Austria itself mainly two festival participations are noteworthy: in the diagonal in 1995, where he received the Short Film Award for Air Fright, and in Vienna Independent Shorts 2008, where a comprehensive retrospective of his film work was seen.

Since the 1960s, also Hubert Sielecki created environments, object art and action art, and was represented at numerous exhibitions.
