Hufengymnasium

The Royal High School was a high school hooves in Königsberg. It was in the district of hooves.

On 1 May 1905, the hooves school was opened in a rented building in the Hermann -Allee No. 8 ( at the hooves gorge at Tiergarten) solemnly. Tasked with the grounds of the Royal Grammar School hooves same Konigsberg Pr and director was Prof. Otto Portzehl. 1915, moved into the after plans by Regierungsbaurat Kraatz, built in neoclassical style school building in the Tiergarten (today Zoologitscheskaja 2). This allowed the incorporation of a real upper secondary branch, ie the expansion of the school to a double institution. With 750 students (as of 1926), including 670 Protestant, 30 Catholic and 48 Jewish faith, it was one of the larger schools in the city. The most famous teacher was Ernst Wiechert, who taught from 1920 to 1930 German and English. On January 23, 1945, the school was closed down. The significantly damaged during air raids on Königsberg building was largely restored and opened on 1 September 1958 as Bauschule Kaliningrad.
