Hugh McAuley (footballer born 1953)
Hughie McAuley ( born January 8, 1953 in Bootle ) is an English former football player and football coach.
Life and career
McAuley is currently the head coach of the reserve team of FC Liverpool. Previously, the Englishman was also coach of the U-19 team of the club. Since 1990 he works in the youth department of the club and he was coach of the second team in 2005. As a player, he signed a contract with the Reds, but came to no single competitive match use. Furthermore McAuley played for Tranmere Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton Athletic, Carlisle United and FC Formby. He was a youth coach in the victory of Liverpool FC in the English Youth Championship 1996. McAuely later coached superstars like Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher. He is married and has a son who as a professional player at FC Leigh Genesis plays.
