Hugh Samuel Johnson

Hugh Samuel Johnson ( * August 5, 1882 in Fort Scott, Kansas, † April 15, 1942 in Washington, DC) was an American general and government employees.

After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1903, he joined as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In 1916 he served under General John Pershing in Mexico. In 1918 he was appointed major general. In 1919 he left the army and became an entrepreneur. In 1933 he was called to Washington to work on the elaboration of the National Industrial Recovery Act. 1933-1934 he worked as head of the " National Recovery Administration ". In 1933 he was selected by the U.S. news magazine TIME Man of the Year.
