Hugh Sempill
Hugo Sempilius (also Simpelius, English Hugh Sempill, * 1594-1596; † September 29, 1654 in Madrid) was a Scottish Jesuit and mathematician.
Sempilius joined in 1615 the Scottish Jesuit college in Madrid ( Colegio Imperial de Madrid) in, there was a teacher of mathematics and at the time of his death, Rector of the College. He wrote a lot of their time renowned collection of mathematical investigations in 12 volumes.
The lunar crater Simpelius is named after him.
