Hugues de Lionne

Hugues de Lionne, Marquis de Berny ( born October 11, 1611 Grenoble, † September 1, 1671 ) was a French diplomat.

Lionne came from a noble family of Dauphiné and served as French ambassador in Münster participants in the Peace of Westphalia Congress. In 1646 he was promoted by the favor Jules Mazarin as secretary to the Queen Mother Anne of Austria. In 1655 he went as an envoy to the election of Alexander VII to the papacy to Rome. In 1657 he was envoy in Frankfurt am Main. Lionne worked from 1658 as an envoy in Madrid in negotiating the Iberian peace he had a substantial impact. In 1663 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs and enjoyed the full confidence of Louis XIV, who had given him special favor to be evidence.
