Huixtla is a municipality in the southwest of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is situated on the edge of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas; the name of this place comes from Nahuatl and means " place where there are a lot of thorns ."

The municipality has about 51,000 inhabitants and an area of 397.6 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Huixtla.

The municipality borders the municipalities of Huixtla Escuintla, Motozintla, Tuzantán, Huehuetán, Mazatán, Acapetahua and Villa Comaltitlán and the Pacific Ocean.
