Hummelfeld

Hummel is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography

Hummelfeld located about seven kilometers west of Eckernförde at the edge of the Hüttener mountains. For site include the districts fur Horst and Wolfskrug.

History

Hummelfeld was first mentioned in 1462. The place name derives from the Low German word for hops. Ecclesiastical belonged Hummelfeld always to Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation Kosel.

The community was originally called Hummel Field Wolfskrug. The name was changed in 1932.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2008, the voters Community KWH all nine seats in the municipal council.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is predominantly agricultural. Only a few small craft shops are located on-site. North of Hummelfeld runs the main road 76 from Schleswig to Eckernförde.
