Hussein Ahmed Salah

Ahmed Salah ( born December 31, 1956 in Ali Sabieh ) is a former Djiboutian shear marathon runners. He won the first and only Olympic medal of his country at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.

In 1985 he won in Hiroshima ( Japan) at the inaugural IAAF World Cup Marathon in 2:08:09 hours. In the same year he was in Cairo African champions. In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships 1987, he won the silver medal in 2:12:30, 42 seconds behind Douglas Wakiihuri (KEN ). At the Track Events of the Olympic Games in Seoul, he came again to the marathon and won with a time of 2:10:59 the bronze medal behind the Italian Gelindo Bordin ( 2:10:32 ) and Douglas Wakiihuri ( 2:10: 47). His personal best time he reached second place in 1988 at Rotterdam Marathon when he as well as the winner Belayneh Dinsamo remained 2:07:07 under the old world record.

At the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo, he won a silver medal again; This time he reached 2:15:26, and thus remained 29 seconds behind the Hiromi Taniguchi (JPN ). In 1997, he succeeded with his last 40 years of great success: a victory at the Vienna City Marathon in 2:12:53.
