HVDC Gezhouba–Shanghai

The HVDC Gezhouba -Shanghai line is the first long-distance HVDC transmission line in China. It leads from the converter station at the dam of the Gezhouba converter station Nanqiao in Shanghai. The 1985 Built to 1989, 1046 km long bipolar 500 kV line can transmit a maximum power of 1200 MW.

Between 2008 and 2011, at the circuits of built in this period 500 kV HVDC transmission line were between Fenjing and Liufangtei the masts, which were designed for two conductors and were performed mainly as a rope tense constructions, replaced by free-standing masts for four conductors, to record Hubei Shanghai, which has a transmission capacity of 3000 MW.
