Hyper Text Caching Protocol
The HTCP (Hypertext Caching Protocol ) is one of the Internet Engineering Task Force ( IETF) standard protocol (RFC 2756 ) for HTTP caches and stored data.
It is designed to efficiently manage and monitor a buffer memory ( cache), which minimizes direct traffic to server. The protocol is transferred to the User Datagram Protocol ( UDP), optionally with the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).
HTCP will replace other cache protocols such as Internet Cache Protocol (ICP ), Web Cache Control Protocol ( WCCP ) and Cache Array Routing Protocol ( CARP ).
