Hyperchromasia

Hyperchromasia ( composition from the Greek hyper, over ' and chroma, color ') is a term used in cell biology and histology and refers to an enhanced dyeability of cell structures, particularly of the nucleus ( Kernhyperchromasie ) by dyes. It is, inter alia, a characteristic of many tumor cells ( atypia ) in zytodiagnostischen assessment but is also observed in other contexts (e.g., inflammatory diseases ).
