Hypervolemia

As hypervolemia is defined as the increase in the volume of circulating, so be present in the bloodstream blood. It is the opposite of hypovolemia.

It occurs pathologically in particularly in the so-called hyperhydration, ie an excess of total body water, and can also be a side effect when receiving a blood transfusion. By limiting the amount of blood transfused to 1 ml per kilogram of body weight per hour this side effect can be prevented.

During pregnancy, a hypervolemia may also occur physiologically.
