History

( I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena was published on March 16, 1985 worldwide. In the summer of 1985 it became a number -one hit in countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. In Sweden, the song became the most successful single by a solo artist until then. Overall, the song reached in 21 countries topped the charts and made Sandra popular worldwide.

The song on the 7 "single is 3:58 minutes long and was released on the album The Long Play. On the B - side is the instrumental Party Games. There is also a 7:13 minute long extended version based on the 12 " Maxi has been published. Just like In the Heat of the Night, the song appeared on every compilation album of Sandra, is however on the albums My Favourites and Reflections as a remix. The background vocals are by Hubert Kah.

In the music video Sandra was accompanied by some studio musicians in the song.

In the spring of 1993 appeared by Sandra another version of the song with the name ( I'll Never Be) Maria Magdalena '93. There were different versions thereof, including a 6:01 minute long Clubmix. A 3:58 minute long version appeared on Bravo Hits 3
